Oxfordshire is home to an active community of patient and carer support groups. Many of them are involved in research either through the Patient and Public Involvement mechanisms, or through their participation in clinical trials.

Oxford and the Thames Valley is host to a number of fund raising events hosted by Cancer Research UK. Many of the participants at these events have been touched by cancer. Our senior scientists have acted as keynote speakers, while our students and postdocs have engaged the attendees with our science progress.

We believe that people who have been touched by cancer, should be able to find out about our research if they want it.  We hope that our work will foster hope and empower involvement in research. We work together with the Cancer Research UK Oxford Centre to offer discussion sessions aimed at patients and their families. The highlight of these sessions is our Open Evening in March when we welcome patients and public to meet our scientists and find out about our research.
