Open days

Each year we offer a training course in public engagement for our researchers.  The course mentors our scientists through the development of a science festival exhibit.  The finale of the course is an opportunity for the scientists to use their activity on two live audiences during our open day in March.

The Open Day begins during the morning, when 100 students and teachers from local secondary schools visit to learn about our science and meet our scientists.  This is a great opportunity to influence the immediate futures of young people as they choose which subjects to study at university.

The day ends with an evening with local patients, CRUK staff and allied professionals.  A good mix of adult audiences all of who have good reasons to be very interested in what our researchers are doing.
