Date & Time:
Friday, 17 August 2018 12:00 (noon)
A workshop to help identify your transferable skills and plan how to fill any key gaps in enjoyable and achievable ways.
Following discussions with the University Careers Service, we are delighted to announce a pilot workshop designed specifically for the Postdoc community.
This workshop will be facilitated by Dr Rachel Bray, Careers Adviser for Researchers, and lunch will be provided.
The aims are to:
• Enable you to invest time in your career thinking and activities,
• Reveal the core employability skills you have developed in your research environments,
• Identify any key gaps and plan how to fill them in enjoyable, achievable ways.
To gain most from this session, please complete the following exercises from the Oxford Careers Compass, and bring them to the workshop. Note: The Careers Compass was written for career stages from first degree onwards.
i. Lifeline exercise: Start this at the point you first identified yourself as a researcher and mark ‘today’ two bars in from the right, so that you can project ahead for the coming year/the duration of your contract
ii. Values and motivations: Choose your top 8 and enter these
iii. Me and My Work Environment
iv. Motivations and Rewards grid
Please note we are offering priority booking for Department of Oncology postdocs until midday on Monday 6th August, any remaining places after this may be offered to research students. Registration can be made via Eventbrite
